the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.
Well they drop 607 right out of the gate as though its without dispute. Its like....

I picked up on the same paragraphs you all did. I wish it was sensational or made up (nobody could accuse this article of hiding its bias), but it certainly rings true. Outside of locals there would be no way to verify it.

Debate and conversation are two different things. For JW's every conversation with an alternate (not even neccesarily critical) viewpoint on scripture or a particular teaching, is like having a political conversation about Hilary clinton or a conversation with a proponent of gun deregulation.
In otherwords, its highly charged and emotional before you even get there!
so while 99% of the closing prayer i did not hear, what i did was the elder say "we need to encourage our young ones to get baptised.
we can't let the world take anymore of them away" .
i found this very strange and looked up in disbelief.
So....the symbolic act of dedication representing a commitment one seems to have already made can now be done prepubescent, is enforceable through a code of conduct and communal shunning policy, and this is going to keep the world from taking them?
So in this guys prayer he might as well say, get them in young, so they can fear loosing their social structure and stick around.
